The OSC Travel Program is for those players who are interested in playing at a higher level than recreation soccer. The purpose of travel soccer is to further develop individual skills as well as teamwork through games against clubs of similar caliber. Players should possess a basic understanding of the game’s principles in which the coach's prime objective is to develop them into a better soccer player.
Coaches will require a greater level of practice time and sessions from their players in order to fully develop the players.. All teams will participate in a state sanctioned league or tournament in the spring if allowed at that time. These leagues are scheduled with 4-5 away and 4-5 home games. Coaches will decide if a team will enter any indoor/outdoor tournaments or any indoor leagues. Typically teams enter indoor tournaments throughout the winter and at least one outdoor tournament in the spring. Some opt to play in indoor leagues throughout the winter. Some teams may travel out of state for a tournament, but most stay within New York State. These optional tournaments and indoor leagues are an additional cost beyond the OSC Registration cost and are at the discretion of the coach.
Travel soccer is generally considered to be an 8-10 month (Nov-June) commitment for the child and parent.
If your child has the skill and desire to learn, we want him or her. We at OSC think our program is the best – but don’t take our word for it, try it for yourself!

The OSC U8 Travel Program is for those players who are interested in playing a little more. Recreation soccer is great and for many children that is enough. However, the purpose of the U8 Travel soccer is to further develop individual skills as well as teamwork but still keep it fun and engaging. This program serves as a precursor for the U10 and older Travel teams who do more traveling and begin to expect high levels of commitment.
Activities beyond the soccer field will further develop this young group beyond their soccer skills. The U8 Travel program typically runs from December through the following April. Children are encouraged to join the program in September at the “tryouts” but may join at any time during the year.
